On March 25, 1976, the Shanghai-based Wen Wei Po published a report entitled "The capitalist roaders are still on the move, and we will fight with them." "Kong Lao Er wants to'raise and destroy the country, continue the peerless world, and raise the people, 'and the capitalist roaders in the party want to bring to power the capitalist roaders who have been defeated and have not repented so far." In the following days, more than 400 telegrams were sent to Wen Wei Po from various places, and more than 1,000 phone calls were made to protest. The telegrams pointed out: "Those who oppose Premier Zhou are unpopular!" They asked: "Whose newspaper has Wen Wei Po become?" Strictly demanded that "Wen Wei Po must explain the truth of the incident to the people of the whole country! In this regard, Zhang Chunqiao said: "Why only check the Wen Wei Po?", "Don't criticize the newspaper, the newspaper will delete it in the future!" Wang Hongwen said: "Deleting the inscription of the Premier is a fart!" On March 28, more than 400 people from Nanjing University, carrying a huge portrait of Premier Zhou and a large wreath of flowers, detoured Xinjiekou to Meiyuan New Village, setting off the first large-scale demonstration in the country to protest the "Wen Wei Po"'s allusion to Premier Zhou and oppose the "Gang of Four". On March 30, students from Nanjing University, with the help of staff at Nanjing Railway Station, used tung oil and paint to paint the train carriages with large slogans such as "Be wary of Khrushchev-style characters coming to power" and "Find out the black background of" Wen Wei Po ". These slogans, as the trains from south to north spread in all directions, played a vanguard role in promoting the outbreak of activities against the "Gang of Four" across the country.
