Five-star General MacArthur of the US Army was born

Douglas MacArthur(1880-1964) A five-star American general and a famous military strategist. During the Second World War, he served as commander of the U.S. Far East Army and commander of the Allied Forces in the Southwest Pacific Theater; after the war, he served as Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Allied Forces in Japan and Commander-in-Chief of the "United Nations Army".

MacArthur was born on January 26, 1880, to a military family in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. He entered the West Texas Military Academy in 1893 and entered the West Point Military Academy in 1899.

In 1917, he served as Chief of Staff of the 42nd Infantry Division and went to France to participate in the World War. In June 1919, he was appointed president of West Point Military Academy. In 1925, MacArthur was promoted to Major General and became President of the U.S. Olympic Committee in the autumn of 1927. He led the U.S. team to participate in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam. In November 1930, he received the temporary rank of general and became Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. In December 1944, MacArthur was promoted to a five-star general in the Army.

In April 1945, he was given command of all U.S. Army forces in the Pacific region.

On August 15, 1945, Japan announced its unconditional surrender, and MacArthur was appointed by President Truman as the Supreme Allied Commander in Japan, responsible for the military occupation of Japan and the reconstruction of Japan.

In June 1950, after the outbreak of the Korean War, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Army in the Far East and Commander-in-Chief of the "United Nations Army", commanding the war of aggression against Korea. In April 1951, he was dismissed from all duties due to defeat in the war.

Author of "Memories of the Past". Died of illness at Walter Reed Army Hospital on April 3, 1964.
