The Second Uprising of Lyon Workers in France

The Lyon workers revolted twice, the first on November 21, 1831, and the second on April 9, 1834.

After the failure of the first workers 'uprising in Lyon, the King of July of France issued an order prohibiting workers from gathering and gathering, and in February 1834, he arrested six leaders of the Workers' Mutual Aid Association on charges of inciting association.

On April 9, 1834, the court opened for the trial of the arrested workers' leaders. Workers from all over the city flocked to the courthouse. Reactionary troops opened fire on the workers, killing one. The workers then built barricades and fought the enemy, and the second Lyon workers' uprising broke out. The workers made demands for a democratic republic, with the slogan "No republic or death!" written on bright red flags.

This uprising was echoed by the masses of workers in Paris and Marseille. 10,000 reactionary troops suppressed the workers' uprising, and after six days of fighting, the second Lyon workers' uprising failed.

The French Lyon workers uprising marked that the French proletariat had stepped onto the historical stage as an independent political force.
