Today, 41 years ago, on February 8, 1984 (Calendar January 7, 1984), the 14th Winter Olympics opened, and athletes from both sides of the Strait competed for the first time simultaneously. From February 8 to 19, 1984, the 14th Winter Olympics took place in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. A total of 1483 athletes (including 308 women) from 49 countries and regions participated in six major and 39 individual competitions. China sent 37 athletes, including 16 women, to participate in five major and 26 individual competitions, but no prize-winning. The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee also sent 14 athletes to participate, which is the first time that Chinese athletes from both sides of the Strait participated simultaneously in the Winter Olympics.
