112 years ago today, on November 22, 1913 (October 25, 1913 in the lunar calendar), the Hong Kong Chinese Chamber of Commerce was established. On November 22, 1913, the Hong Kong Chinese Chamber of Commerce was formally established. As the only head office of Chinese business in Hong Kong, its predecessor was the Hong Kong Chinese Business Bureau, which was established in 1900. In order to safeguard the rights and interests of Chinese businessmen, participate in social welfare and strengthen the ties between Hong Kong and the mainland, after negotiations, the bureau has been recognized by the Hong Kong government from the day of its establishment. After the founding of the Republic of China, various industries in Hong Kong set up chambers of commerce one after another. In view of the fact that all chambers of commerce had joined the bureau, the chairman of the "Chinese Chamber of Commerce" proposed to change it into a general chamber of commerce, and the "Hong Kong Chinese Chamber of Commerce" was born. Soon, the number of members grew to 1,000, and they became the general representatives of major companies, banks and trade chambers of commerce of Chinese businessmen in Hong Kong. By 1952, the General Chamber of Commerce implemented the board system and changed its name to "Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce", which has been in use to this day and has become the oldest and most influential general representative office of Chinese businessmen among Chinese residents in Hong Kong.
