John Adams (John Adams, 30 October 1735 ¨C 4 July 1826) was the first Vice President of the United States (1789¨C1797), then succeeded by Washington as the second President of the United States (1797¨C1801). His son John Quincy Adams was then elected as the sixth President of the United States.
