Pope Paul III establishes the Court of Rome

The Religious Court
The religious court, also known as the heretical court, the heretical court, is responsible for investigating, judging and ruling the court that the Catholic Church considers to be heretical, imprisoning and executing dissidents.
Pope Paul III established the Heretic Court of Rome in 1542 and retained the supervision of the religious trials of the whole Catholic world. The Heretic Court of Rome was directly administered by the Pope, unlike the Spanish Heretic Court established in 1478. Paul III appointed six Red Bishops to form a central court, known as the Holy Roman Catholic Heretic Court, which required the accused to perform public repentance, including self-blasphemy, pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and fines wearing clothes representing the identity of the convicted. In addition, serious persons would also be confiscated property and imprisoned, such as Galileo being sentenced to silence.
In 1904, the Supreme Sacred Congregation of the Holy Office in Rome was renamed the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1965. Since 1985, the Holy Word has been abolished, becoming the ministry of faith today, and continues to face and defend the challenge and impact of world values on Catholic doctrines such as today’s homosexuality, priestly pedophilia and so on.
