Christian II of Denmark (July 2, 1481¨CJanuary 25, 1559), King of Denmark and Norway (1513¨C1523); King of Sweden (1520¨C1521). He was the last king to rule the three nations of Denmark, Norway and Sweden in the name of the Carmelite Union. He united peasants and citizens against the sovereignty of the aristocracy, but was eventually overthrown by the aristocracy and imprisoned.
