On October 31, 1980, London's Newspaper Closed announced the closure of the newspaper with the title "London Closed". The Newspaper Closed is one of the two London's evening newspapers with a 99-year history. At the closure, the newspaper's journalists and print workers held a gathering for it, and there were also black covers and other signs of mourning. The closure of the evening newspaper left 1.750 people out of work. British House leader Norman St. John Stewart said that the closure of the evening newspaper was a serious loss that would inevitably cause "millions of Londoners to grieve and regret."
