Today, 34 years ago, on August 21, 1991 (July 12, 1991) the Association of Chinese Mayors was founded in Beijing. On August 21, 1991, the Association of Chinese Mayors was announced today in Beijing. Vice Prime Minister Zhou Yua congratulated the Association on behalf of the State Council on its founding. He noted that the city is the center of economic, political, scientific and technological education of the country and the region, and plays a leading role in the construction of socialist modernization. The purpose of the Association of Chinese Mayors is to serve the Mayor's work, for the reform and development of the city. The Minister of Construction said that 90% of the cities in 467 cities in the country have registered as group members, and more than 2,000 mayors, deputy mayors and district directors, deputy districts have become individual members.
