On August 9, 2001 (Lunar Calendar, June 20, 2001), the robot completed remote brain surgery. On August 9, 2001, China¡¯s first successful remote brain surgery was performed using the robot. China Navy General Hospital announced the news to the outside world. The medical robot in the hospital¡¯s operating room successfully performed brain surgery for the patient, while the expert who ordered the robot was away from the scene, commanding each step of the operation in another building kilometers away. This operation used a remote medical robot system developed jointly by the Beijing Aerospace University Institute of Robotics and Navy General Hospital.
