On December 18, 1994, Russian forces entered Chechnya.
On November 2, 1994, the Russian Federation sent troops into Chechnya. On October 27, 1991, Dudaev, who advocated that “the people of the car giants were no longer in obedience” was elected President of Chechnya—Inkush. On November 2, 1994, the Chechnya declared independence from the Russian Federation and established an independent Chechnya Republic. This move immediately sparked strong opposition from the Russian Federation Central Committee. Since then, Chechnya has not regarded itself as a member of the Russian Federation, refused to sign the federal treaty and participate in national referendums, parliamentary elections and other all-Russian activities. The Russian authorities have not recognized the independence of Chechnya. Russia has tried to sign bilateral treaties with Chechnya to give Chechnya greater autonomy in exchange
