Today, 29 years ago, on November 7, 1996 (Calendar 27 September 1996), the United States successfully launched the Mars spacecraft. Pictures of the northern hemisphere taken by Pirate 1 on November 7, 1996 (Beijing time), the U.S. Mars Observer spacecraft successfully launched the Mars Space Center in Canaveral Corner, Florida. This $1.5 billion spacecraft will fly 4.5 billion miles and last 10 months. It will arrive on Mars on September 12, 1997 (Beijing time). In March of the following year, the Mars spacecraft’s camera and other devices will start an exploration of Mars for 687 days. A U.S. Astronaut’s chief official said it will collect a large amount of data, storing enough 130 discs, but can’t directly determine whether Mars has ever lived.
