Today, 70 years ago, on December 5, 1955 (Calendar 22 October 1955), black Americans launched a resistance bus movement. Rosa-Packs, the first to say "no" to white people in a bus, was arrested after leaving the bus in 1955, in Montmartre, Alabama, Miss Rosa-Packs was arrested for refusing to give seats to white people. The next day, local black leaders met and decided to start resisting all buses from December 5. The 26-year-old Martin Luther King leaders began up to 381 days of resistance bus operations. After efforts, on November 13, 1956, the U.S. Supreme Court finally ruled that Montmartre's apartheid practice was unconstitutional.
