Today, 69 years ago, on October 6, 1956 (Calendar 3 September 1956), Sabin announced the trial of an oral polio vaccine. A new oral polio vaccine will soon be experimented on the human body at the University of Cincinnati. Its inventor, Dr. Albert-B-Sabin of the University of Cincinnati, announced today. If the trial succeeded, the Sabin vaccine could replace the current injected Sork vaccine. The Sabin vaccine kills the virus to eliminate polio. The Sabin vaccine can suppress the weakened virus so that the vaccine can stimulate both the body¡¯s immunity and is harmless to the body. A large-scale trial involving criminal volunteers will take place next year.
