July 19, 1996 U.S. scientists believe there may be oceans on Jupiter's satellite
Today, 29 years ago, on July 19, 1996 (Lunar Calendar, June 4, 1996), American scientists claimed there could be ocean on Jupiter’s satellite. American scientists said there is a high probability of ocean on Jupiter’s satellite “EUROPA”. Professor Squire presented a report today at the 31st meeting of the Space Research Commission that he concluded this by analyzing the images of the Jupiter satellite taken by the U.S. “Voyager”. These images suggest that the surface of “EUROPA” has an appearance similar to the Northern Ocean, and the surface of the satellite can hardly see a meteor collision pit, so the surface of the satellite is likely to have ocean under the ice cover.
