Stalin (1879 to 1953)

Joseph Viserionovich Stalin, leader of the Soviet Party and the state, activist of the international communist movement. Stalin's original name was Zhukashvili, and in 1879 was born on December 21 in a shoemaker family in the city of Golgotha, Russia.

In 1898, he joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, in 1901, he was elected member of the Tiflis (now Tbilisi) Committee of the Party, and subsequently engaged in revolutionary activities in Tiflis, South Caucasus and St. Petersburg. In December 1904, he led the strike of the Baku Oil Workers. In December 1905, he met Lenin for the first time at the 1st meeting of the Bolsheviks. In January 1912, he was absent from the Party's 6th Congress as elected member of the Party Central Committee, and was commissioned by the Party to lead the work of the Party's Central Russian Bureau. In spring 1912 he was responsible for the founding of The Truth Journal. In late 1912 and early 1913, he wrote "Marxism and Nationalism".

From March 1901 to February 1917, Stalin was arrested seven times, exiled six times, and fled five times. After the February Revolution of 1917, Stalin returned to Petersburg to lead the work of the Journal of Truth and became a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Party. At the six General Assemblies of the Party held in August, he wrote a report on the political work of the Central Committee and the political situation. In October, he was elected to the Party headquarters leading the insurrection to participate in the organization and leadership of the October Socialist Revolution. After Lenin's death in January 1924, Stalin gradually became the main leader of the Soviet Party and the country. He led the whole party and the people of the country to realize socialist industrialization and agricultural collectivization, achieving achievements in socialist transformation and construction. He criticized Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev, Bukharin and other party opposition groups, and expelled them from the leading organs. In 1936, he made a report on the draft of the new constitution of the Soviet Union, proclaiming the establishment of socialism in the Soviet Union. In 1941 he served as chairman of the Soviet People's Committee (from 1946 as chairman of the Council of Ministers).

After the start of the war, he served as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Soviet Union and led the people of the Soviet Union for four years, achieving great victories in the anti-fascist war, contributing to the cause of world peace and human progress.
