August 23, 1939 Japanese forces surrounded Hong Kong.
Today, 86 years ago, on August 23, 1939 (July 9, 1939), the Japanese army encircled Hong Kong. The Japanese warships encircled Hong Kong on August 13, 1939, the Japanese army cut off the supply line of the Chinese army, ordered the Eighteenth Division to gather Tiger River, prepare to attack Shenzhen, and informed the British authorities not to hinder Japanese operations. On the evening, the Eighteenth Division sailed from Tiger Gate, and the next day morning landed in the vicinity of Baoan. The Japanese army did not retreat without any resistance to occupy Shenzhen, and 15 occupied the Sandhead Belt.
