American biochemist Getty Teresa Cory was born.

Getty Teresa Corey
Gerty Theresa Cori (born Gerty Theresa Cori, Radnitz, 15 August 1896 – 26 October 1957), an American biochemist, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1947 with her husband, Carl Ferdinand Cori, and the Argentine physician, Bernard Orsay, for the discovery of an enzyme-stimulating reaction in sugar metabolism. Cory was born in Prague (then part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, now in the Czech Republic). In 2004, the couple was awarded a national chemistry milestone to commemorate their major discoveries.
