21 July 1944 Polish National Revival Day
On July 21, 1944, the People's Congress of the Polish Workers' Party and the Polish Socialist Party established the first Polish Workers' and Peasants' Government - the Polish National Liberation Commission. On July 22, it declared in the first liberated city of Helm, by a declaration - to establish the program of the People's Democracy of the People's Republic, and announced: the state power was transferred to the people's hands represented by the National Liberation Committee; with the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia formed an alliance to expel the German occupants; to guarantee the people's speech, belief, and freedom of association; to punish for fascist crimes, to confiscate the property of the German occupants; to exercise land, reform, mining, and nationalization of banks.
