On 29 June 2001, the world-renowned opening ceremony of the Tibetan Railway took place simultaneously in the capital city of Guilmo and Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. The Prime Minister and Vice Prime Minister Wu participated in the cutting ceremony in Guilmo and Lhasa respectively.
