On May 18, 1953, Jacqueline Cochrane became the first woman to drive an aircraft over the noise barrier. She was one of the best pilots in the United States. She drove a Canadian-made F-86 Peabody jet fighter aircraft. The aircraft flew over the Edward Air Force Base 100 km north of Los Angeles. Cochrane’s aircraft shook and several times thundered over the desert, when she flew vertically downwards at a speed of more than 760 miles per hour, she created a new world record of 652 miles per hour, breaking the record created in 1951. Miss Cochrane was a midfielder of the US Air Force Reserve Force, thanks to notable achievements and has been awarded an excellent service.
