Lassen was born in a poor family in the old city of Stockholm, and his childhood was quite unfortunate, and at the age of 13, he had a teacher in his school who encouraged him to enter the principskola program of the Royal Swedish Academy of Art, and he was lucky enough to be admitted. Lassen was quite confused about school life because of his poor birth in the early days of the Academy of Arts, and was reluctant to get close to his classmates, and in 1869, when Lassen was 16, he was promoted to the 'antique school' (the top department in the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts), after which Lassen began to feel confident about his talent and gradually became an important student in the school.
