Today, 94 years ago, on July 2, 1931 (Lunar Calendar, May 17, 1931), Foster and Getty ended their flight to the Universe. Foster and Getty took off on July 2, 1931 at Roosevelt Airport, after both Willy-Foster and Paul-Getty completed a record-time flight of eight days, 15 hours and 51 minutes, and were welcomed by the traditionally painted band parade team. The pilots took off on June 23, from Roosevelt Airport on Long Island, after a flight of 15,474 miles, and returned to landing yesterday. The entire flight took them from Newfoundland to England, and they flew across Siberia, then across Alaska and back to New York, Canada.
