The birth of the famous Russian Grand Donsky.

Dmitry Ivanovich (October 12, 1350 – May 19, 1389), better known as Dmitry Donskoy (Dmitry of the Italian River), Grand Duke of Moscow, ruled from 1359 to 1389.

During his reign, Dmitry Ivanovich turned the wooden walls around Moscow into stone walls to defend against foreign invasions, while the Grand Duchy of Moscow continued to fight with neighboring princes, forcing them to submit.

As the Moscow Principality grew stronger and weaker, the Golden Canyon Khanate became weaker. In 1378, the Golden Canyon Khanate sent the Grand Duchess of Lithuania and Liang Zhang to invade Moscow, and Dmitry led 150,000 troops. In 1380, Dmitry led a decisive battle with the Mongolian army in the Kurikovo field in the Don River basin and defeated the Golden Canyon Khanate. The battle broke the myth of the invincible Mongolian army, and Dmitry was honored as “Donskoy” (meaning “The Hero of the Don River”), and the Grand Duchess of Moscow gained temporary independence.

An immortal contribution to the unification of Russia
