Subsequently, Bai Chunli made the world's first intercontinental quantum secure communication video call with Anton Salinger, president of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, through the "Mozi" quantum science experimental satellite. During the call, Salinger congratulated China on its recent achievements in the field of quantum communication and hoped to further strengthen scientific research cooperation between the two countries. Since the establishment of the project in 2013, the "Beijing-Shanghai Trunk Line" project team has made breakthroughs in a series of key technologies for engineering implementation, such as high-speed quantum key distribution, high-speed and high-efficiency single photon detection, trusted relay transmission and large-scale quantum network management and control. At present, the backbone line of quantum secure communication with a total length of more than 2,000 kilometers connecting Beijing, Jinan, Hefei and Shanghai has been fully connected, and the connection with "Mozi" has been realized through the Beijing access point, laying the foundation for realizing a global quantum secure communication network in the future. It is understood that the key rate of the "Beijing-Shanghai trunk line" line is greater than 20 kilobits per second (kbps), which can meet the key distribution business needs of tens of thousands of users. The intercontinental quantum communication video conference between Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, Hefei, Nanshan Ground Station in Urumqi and Austrian Academy of Sciences at 6 o'clock has been realized. Through this line, Bank of Communications, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and Alibaba Group have also realized applications such as quantum encryption transmission of data in different places between Beijing and Shanghai. Academician Pan Jianwei, chief scientist of the "Beijing-Shanghai Trunk Line" project, said that quantum communication is the only communication mode that has been strictly proved to be unconditionally safe so far. In the future, based on the "Beijing-Shanghai Trunk Line", the large-scale application of quantum communication will be promoted, a complete quantum communication industry chain and the next generation of national sovereign information security ecosystem will be established, and finally a quantum Internet based on quantum communication security will be built.
