June 4, 1980 China joins the World Intellectual Property Organization
On June 4, 1980 (April 22), China joined the World Intellectual Property Organization. On June 4, 1980, China joined the World Intellectual Property Organization, and the Convention establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force for China. In order to promote the protection of intellectual property worldwide and strengthen cooperation between countries and intellectual property organizations, the 51 member states of the International Union for the Protection of Industrial Property and the International Union for the Protection of Literary Works established the World Intellectual Property Organization in Stockholm, Sweden, on July 14, 1967.
