King Henry I of England died.

December 1, 1135 – King Henry I of England dies.

Henry I (1068 – 1 December 1135), King of the Normandy dynasty of England (1100 – 1135), young son of William the Conqueror, took office after his brother William II died in a mysterious hunting accident.

1. Life

Henry I reigned at home in 1106 when he sailed to France in the Battle of Tansbury and defeated the rival Duke of Normandy, Robert II Cossus (the eldest son of William the Conqueror), imprisoning the latter forever. In 1120 his heir, William Adler, drowned. Henry I appointed his wife, Matilda (the widow of Emperor Henry V of the Holy Roman Empire), as his heir. But after his death, the throne actually fell into the hands of his nephew, Count Stephen of Blois.

2. Marriage and children

His first marriage was to Scottish princess Matilda Dunkeld and Matilda Dunkeld.

Matilda, married to Emperor Henry V of the Holy Roman Empire, was established by his father after the death of Henry V as the heir to the throne of England (but failed due to the opposition of the English nobility), then married to the French Count of Angelo Godfrey V, born Henry II King of the Normandy dynasty of England.
