On July 1, 2006 (June 6, 2006 in the lunar calendar), Pan Xulan, an expert in the history of Chinese literature, died. Pan Xulan, male, born in November 1932, died of illness in Shanghai Xinhua Hospital on July 1, 2006, Han nationality, from Nan'an, Fujian. Graduated from the Chinese Department of Fudan University in 1956. He has successively served as teaching assistant, lecturer, associate professor and professor of Chinese Department of Fudan University, visiting professor of Literature Department of Kansai University, Japan, director and doctoral supervisor of Taiwan Province Hong Kong Cultural Research Institute of Fudan University. He began to publish works in 1946. He joined the Chinese Writers Association in 1982. In 1989, he concurrently served as the director of Taiwan Province Hong Kong Cultural Research Institute of Fudan University. He has been elected as the vice president of the Chinese Novel Society, the vice president and consultant of the Chinese Contemporary Literature Research Association. He has won more than 20 awards at home and abroad, such as Artistic Thoughts, Selected Literary Reviews of Pan Xulan, Droplets of the Long River, Chewing the Taste of the World, Little Bonfire, Miscellaneous Theories of Taiping, editor-in-chief of New Chinese Literature Dictionary, Ten Years of Literary Trend and Collection of Contemporary Prose. In the past 20 years, Pan Xulan has won more than 20 academic, educational and creative awards from cultural and educational institutions in China, Japan, Britain and the United States. Biography has been included in dozens of dictionaries and books at home and abroad. Taiping Za Shuo has a great influence on historians, and it is a rare and excellent work.
