June 28, 1993 Bank of China returns to the European market
Today, 32 years ago, on June 28, 1993 (March 9, 1993) Chinese banks returned to the European market. On June 28, 1993, the Deputy Governor of the Bank of China, Yang Huizhou, signed an agreement with the Bank of China to issue $200 million in European bonds in the London market. The bond term is 5 years, and this is the first time since 1988, that Chinese banks have returned to the European market to raise long-term funds.
