Today, 60 years ago, on August 11, 1965 (Calendar July 15, 1965), a black riot in Los Angeles. In the mid-1960s, the American black movement moved from a non-violent mass movement to a city rebellion. In Los Angeles, a black riot shook the American society in the Wattz district in 1965. It was on August 11, 1965 that the Los Angeles City police arrested a black youth in excessive speed. After the incident, black people in the Wattz district clashed with police. Black people robbed white shops and burned buildings. On August 16, the riots were suppressed. This riot resulted in 34 deaths, 1,032 injured, and property losses of as much as $40 million.
