On 23 May 2008 (April 19, 2008), the "Charter of the Union of South American Nations" was signed in Brazil by the 12 leaders of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Suriname, Guyana and others. On 23 May 2008, the leaders of 12 countries signed the "Charter of the Union of South American Nations" in Brazil. The purpose of the establishment of the "Union of South American Nations" is to promote the integration of the region, the main tasks include: political consultation; free trade; energy, transport integration; formulate common defence policies; build science, science, education, cultural cooperation; enterprises and social groups to promote the establishment of the South American Parliament.
