Forty-two years ago today, on December 15th, 1983 (November 12th, 1983 in the lunar calendar), the Chinese women's football team was established. On December 15th, 1983, the Chinese women's football team was formally established. Women's football has a long history. As early as the second year of the Eastern Han Dynasty, vivid mural of women playing football was painted on the Zhongyue Que in Songshan Mountain, Henan Province. During the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties, women's football games became more and more common. At that time, there were poems such as "two buildings are laid in front of the temple, and the palace people play ball step by step in cold time...". In the Northern Song Dynasty, the women's football team was even more vigorous. At present, the scene of women playing football was vividly recorded on the bronze mirror of the Song Dynasty patterns. Modern women's football first appeared in China in the 1920s-1930s. At that time, the first women's football team appeared in Shanghai. They often compete with the men's team in the present Hunan Stadium and East Asia Sports College. Unfortunately, after these students graduated, the football team was disbanded. In the late 1950s, there were five women's football teams in Meixian County, Guangdong Province. The potential of Chinese women's football began to be discovered in the late 1970s. In 1978, the spark of women's football first ignited in Yunnan, Shaanxi, Liaoning and other places, and then quickly expanded to all parts of the country. In 1981, the first national women's football match was held in Chuxiong, Yunnan. In 1982, the National Women's Football Invitational Tournament of 10 provinces and cities was held in Beijing. This year, there were 27 national women's football teams, and the following year, the number of participating teams jumped to 35. Almost all provinces, municipalities and key areas of autonomous regions have their own women's football teams. In 1987, women's football was officially listed as a competition event in the 6th National Games because of its broad mass base and potential. The exchange between Chinese women's football team and foreign countries began in 1983. This year, Guangzhou held the International Women's Football Invitational Tournament for the first time, with six teams from Japan, Singapore and China participating. In 1984, Xi'an held international competitions with European, American and Oceania champions and Japan and China. In the exchanges with foreign strong teams, the technical level of Chinese players has been significantly improved. In July and August, 1986, the Chinese women's football team made an expedition to Italy, and achieved the third and first place successively. In December of the same year, the Chinese women's football team won the 6th Asian Cup Women's Football Championship with a record of not conceding a goal in all competitions, realizing its wish to rush out of Asia. In commemoration of this historic victory, the State Sports Commission awarded the national women's football team at that time the title of "the first batch of women's football players in China".
