Thirty-nine years ago today, on September 21, 1986 (August 18, 1986 in the lunar calendar), the Yangtze River rafting team conquered the Tiger Leaping Gorge. On September 21, 1986, at 11:45, Wang Maojun, a worker from Luoyang Knitting Factory in Henan Province, and Li Weimin, a physical education teacher from Luoyang No.5 Middle School, took a sealed boat and went into the water downstream of Zhonghutiaotan. After about one hour and twenty minutes of fighting, they continuously crossed the chamfered shoal, the lower tiger jumping beach and the upper and lower dustpan beaches in one go. Two rafting warriors crossed the four dangerous shoals and completed the whole rafting task of the tiger jump. When they landed, the team members sang the magnificent national anthem with passion. Prior to this, Chinese rafters Lei Jiansheng, Li Qinjian, yan wang, Li Dafang and Lang Baoluo conquered the upper tiger jump and the middle tiger jump on September 10th, 11th and 12th respectively.
