In the 1970s, the flow was cut off 6 times, with an average of 7 days, and the cut-off reach was 130 kilometers long; In the 1980s, the flow was cut off 7 times, with an average of 7.4 days, and the cut-off reach was 150 kilometers long; In the 1990s, the flow was cut off five times in six years, with an average of 53 days, and the cut-off section was 300 kilometers long. Among them, in 1995, the Yellow River was cut off for 122 days, and the cut-off reach was 683 kilometers long. According to the data provided by relevant departments, in 1996, the Yellow River was cut off for 136 days, with a cut-off reach of 579 kilometers; In 1997, the Yellow River stopped flowing for 226 days, with a reach of 700 kilometers. According to preliminary estimates, the Yellow River has been cut off for 118 days this year, and the cut-off reach is about 480 kilometers. According to this calculation, the Yellow River will be cut off for 140 days in 2000; In 2010, the Yellow River will be cut off for 200 days; In 2020, the lower reaches of the Yellow River will be cut off throughout the year. Experts predict that it is a foregone conclusion that the Yellow River will become an inland river.
