December 3, 1859 Founder of the Communist Party of Japan.
166 years ago today, on December 3, 1859 (November 10, 1859 in the lunar calendar), Katayama Qian, the founder of the Japanese Communist Party, was born. One day in November, 1933, it was cold and windy in Moscow. In front of the Trade Union Building, a team of tens of thousands of people was slowly and silently marching towards the Red Square. Stalin, the leader of the Soviet party and state, walked in front of the procession, carrying the coffin with several others and walking slowly to the sound of mourning music. Whose body is in this coffin? How did he get such a high honor? Those who don't know can't help but be a little surprised. In the coffin is the body of Katayama Qian. He was the founder of the Japanese Communist Party, a famous activist of the international workers' movement, and a loyal friend of the Chinese people and the Soviet people. Katayama Qian was born on December 3, 1859 in a poor peasant family in Okayama Prefecture, Japan. His last name is not Katayama. At the age of 19, he became an adopted son in Kitaro Katayama's family and changed his surname to Katayama. Later, he went to Katayama Changyoshi's family as an adopted son and named Katayama Qian. Because of his poor family, Katayama Qian rarely had the opportunity to study since childhood, and went to primary schools and normal schools intermittently. At the age of 25, Katayama Qian left Japan to work and study in the United States in order to seek a living and knowledge overseas. In the United States, he cleaned glass, worked as a chef, and did all kinds of chores. By his own hard work, he successively entered several colleges and universities to study philosophy, history, literature, mathematics, English, Latin and other courses. I didn't return to Japan until I was 36. After Katayama returned to the motherland, he devoted himself to the workers' movement with great enthusiasm and actively publicized socialist thoughts. In May, 1901, the Social Democratic Party was jointly founded by Katayama Qian and Yukitoku Qiushui. But it was ordered to dissolve by the reactionary government that day. In 1911, Katayama Qian was arrested by the Japanese government for leading a general strike of workers in Tokyo. After being released from prison, he left Japan again for the United States in 1914. Since then, he has never returned to Japan. During his stay in the United States, Katayama actively participated in the preparatory work of the Communist Party in the United States, Mexico and Canada, and served as the chairman of the American Bureau of the Communist International. In 1921, Katayama Qian left the United States and came to Moscow to participate in the work of the Communist International. The Japanese Empire proposed to send troops to interfere in Soviet Russia. In 1922, Katayama went to the Siberian front line many times and personally distributed leaflets, calling on Japanese soldiers not to invade other countries and return to their hometown. In 1931, Japanese imperialism launched a war of aggression against China. Under the active preparation of Katayama, the World Anti-War Congress was held in Amsterdam in 1932. At the meeting, he attacked the aggressive behavior of Japanese imperialism and called on international anti-war organizations to unanimously support the Chinese revolution. Comments: A loyal friend of the Chinese people, the Chinese people will always miss him!!
