Cuba completed its withdrawal from Angola on 24 May 1991
Thirty-four years ago today, on May 24th, 1991 (April 11th, 1991 in the lunar calendar), Cuba completed its withdrawal from Angola. Angolan Defense Minister Pedro Maria Tonha announced in Luanda on May 24th, 1991 that the last batch of Cuban soldiers in Angola would leave Angola and return home on May 25th. Angola and Cuba signed a "symbolic agreement" on the withdrawal of the last batch of Cuban soldiers in Luanda on the 24th. The agreement said that the new york agreement on the withdrawal of 50,000 Cuban soldiers from Angola was successfully implemented, and the withdrawal plan was completed 36 days ahead of schedule.
