Famous modern Chinese psychologist Ayu was born.

Ai Wei (1890 ~ 1955) is a modern Chinese psychologist. Born in Shashi, Hubei Province on August 12, 1890, he died in Hsinchu, Taiwan Province on September 27, 1955, at the age of 65. Graduated from St. John's University in Shanghai in 1919 with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1921, he went to the United States to study psychology. In 1922, he received his master's degree from Columbia University and his doctorate in philosophy from Washington University in 1925. After returning to China, he successively served as a professor of psychology at Southeast University and Daxia University, head of education department of Central University, dean of education college and dean of normal college. In 1933, he was appointed as the first professor of the Ministry of Education. In 1938, he served as the director of the Normal Research Department of Central University and the director of the Educational Psychology Department of the Research Institute of Central University. He founded the Institute of Educational Psychology, served as the director, and recruited graduate students. He was awarded a master's degree in educational psychology for the first time in China. In 1946, he attended the International Conference on New Education in Australia and gave lectures. After 1947, he gave lectures in domestic universities such as Beijing Normal University and Sun Yat-sen University Research Institute.

Ai Wei is a famous subject psychologist. In 1923, I began to study Chinese characters, and accumulated 25 years of research results to write the book "Chinese Character Problems", which put forward the factors that affect the learning of Chinese characters, six principles of sorting out Chinese characters, and the principles of selecting Chinese characters in editing textbooks, etc., which have important theoretical and practical value for improving the efficiency of learning Chinese characters, promoting the simplification of Chinese characters, and changing Chinese characters from vertical to horizontal. In 1926, the study of Chinese teaching psychology began. On the basis of careful analysis of middle school students' reading ability, comprehension speed and depth, needs and interests in Chinese, he wrote the book "Chinese Teaching Psychology", and put forward the suggestion that classical Chinese and vernacular textbooks for senior and junior high schools should each account for a certain proportion. The proposal was adopted by the Ministry of Education in 1929 and 1931. In 1929, he began to study English subject psychology and wrote English Teaching Psychology, which made a scientific analysis of English vocabulary burden, grammar learning psychology and reading ability, and put forward some important suggestions for improving English teaching. In his research, he uses rigorous test methods and statistical methods, supplemented by experiments and observations. In 1934, Wanqing Experimental School was founded in Nanjing, engaged in experimental research on educational psychology, selected outstanding children by intelligence test, taught students in accordance with their aptitude, and achieved results. Since 1925, after 30 years of hard work, it has been compiled into tests for all grades and subjects in primary and secondary schools, ability tests for primary school children and intelligence tests. This is the beginning of compiling this kind of tests in China, such as 8 kinds of middle school literature and white comprehension scale and Chinese character test, 9 kinds of arithmetic application problems and plane geometry test, 4 kinds of middle school and college English test, and 9 kinds of junior high school common sense test, which have made important contributions to the assessment teaching of applied scientific methods in the history of modern education in China. His main works include: Essays on Educational Psychology (1936), Experiments on Educational Psychology (1936), Grand View on Educational Psychology (1945, 1946), Mandarin Issues (1948), Reading Psychology (1957), Personnel and Industrial Psychology (1956), etc.
