On August 8, 2001, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that after two years of secret investigation, the U.S. judicial authorities recently destroyed a child pornography commercial website considered to be the largest in the country and arrested more than 100 people involved in the case. The site was operated by Texas-based Mountain Production Limited, which sold child pornography images over the Internet, with 250,000 subscribers and monthly revenues of up to $1.4 million. The site has five website administrators in Russia and Indonesia, who have been accused by the U.S. judicial authorities but have not yet been arrested. According to the report, a couple of U.S. women who operated the company had been sentenced to life imprisonment and 14 years in prison by the U.S. Federal Court on June 6.
