On this day, 86 years ago, on July 29, 1939 (June 13, 1939 in the lunar calendar), the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on Opposing the Munich Conspiracy in the East." On July 29, 1939, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China issued the "Instructions on Opposing the Eastern Munich Conspiracy." From the beginning of the Sino-Japanese War in 1937 to the outbreak of the Pacific War in 1941, Britain, the United States and Japan held secret talks many times, conspiring to sacrifice China to seek mutual compromise. After the fall of Wuhan in October 1938, Japan stepped up its efforts to lure Chiang Kai-shek to surrender, and the British ambassador to China actively carried out matchmaking activities. Due to the exposure and opposition of the Communist Party of China and the people of China, the conspiracy failed. This plot to betray China is the same as the one in which Britain and France betrayed the compromise between Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany through the Munich Conference in 1938, so it is called "Eastern Munich." The following is the full text of the "Instructions": Directive of the Central Committee on Opposing the Munich Conspiracy in the East (July 29, 1939)(1) According to materials from all parties (refer to Military and Political Communication No. 30), it is proved that Britain has made major concessions in principle to Japan during the Anglo-Japanese negotiations. This concession created a possible serious situation in Eastern Munich. (2) Although Chiang Kai-shek's speech pointed out his determination to struggle for independence and oppose dependence and wait-and-see, he still had great illusions about Britain. Especially because of its financial dependence on Britain, Britain still had great control over Chiang. (3) Our party must use its greatest strength to push all parties to join together: 1. Express public opinion and actions that the people of the whole country are seriously protesting against the British Chamberlain Compromise Party's surrender to Japan and sacrifice of China's interests, and oppose any form of Eastern Munich; Exposing Chamberlain's policy is a policy of supporting Japan's invasion of China and opposing China's War of Resistance. This policy can only encourage the aggression of the world's fascist invading countries and promote the arrival of a universal war in the world. 2. We resolutely oppose anyone in the anti-Japanese war camp in China who wavered in the war of resistance because of Chamberlain's surrender to Japan; oppose any activities of capitulation, compromise and undermining the war of resistance; emphasize the slogan of self-reliance, uphold the determination to resist the war to the end and national self-confidence; break our illusions about Britain and oppose a foreign policy that relies on Britain. 3. Regarding the British side, we should concentrate our efforts on cracking down on Chamberlain's surrender policy and advocate that the British people and government change this wrong policy of harming others and continue to support China's War of Resistance. 4. It was pointed out that even if Britain stopped assisting China to compromise with Japan, as long as the danger of internal surrender was overcome, China would still have every means to persist in the War of Resistance and achieve final victory; and promoted the Soviet Union's assistance to China in the War of Resistance.
