On July 2, 1931, the Japanese created the Wanbao Mountain Incident
On this day, 94 years ago, July 2, 1931 (May 17, 1931 in the lunar calendar), the Japanese created the Wanbao Mountain Incident. Wanbao Mountain, the conflict site of the Wanbao Mountain incident, is located in Changchun's Ju No. 3 District, about 30 kilometers northwest of Changchun. This place is completely under the jurisdiction of the China government. It is neither an affiliated area of the "Manchuria Railway" nor a special zone defined in the unequal treaty "China-Japan Tumen River Boundary Treaty" signed in 1909. In April 1931, Hao Yongde, manager of the "Changnong Rice Field Company", rented more than 400 acres of cultivated wasteland such as Xiao Yuchun in the Wanbao Mountain area for a period of 10 years. Submit a case. "The examination of the regulations for renting rice fields requires official approval." However, without approval from the county government, Hao Yongde sublet the above-mentioned land to nine Korean farmers, including Li Shengxun and Li Zaohe, who were deprived of their land by the Japanese imperialists and fled to China, for cultivation. The contract was also for a period of 10 years. The contract was not submitted to the Changchun County Government for approval and filing. By early May, more than 200 North Korean farmers from 40 households living in Changchun had moved there and immediately engaged in reclamation. The terrain here is very low. In order to divert water from the Yitong River for irrigation, North Korean farmers set about opening a water diversion canal in the ripe fields of China farmers. On May 31, the Changchun Ju government sent Lu Qi, the county public security chief, to lead more than 200 infantry and cavalry to Majia sentry post to stop the Koreans from digging ditches and building canals. At this time, Japanese Consul General Taduro sent Tsuchiya Hapi, Takahashi and two Japanese police officers to Wanbao Mountain to coerce the North Koreans to continue construction. On June 1, the North Koreans still did not stop working, and the number of people digging ditches reached more than 170. Their attitude became very tough, claiming that they were "ordered by the Japanese to come here to grow rice and cannot stop working and leave the country until they die." On June 30, more than 500 victims of farmers in the second and third districts of Changchun County held a "Support Conference Against Japanese Police Envoys and Han Min Building Weirs" in Wanbao Mountain. It was decided to unite the victims villages to work on a household basis to fill ditches and level dams. On July 1, at the call of the support club,"three to four hundred people each held shovels and hoes to fill the waterway opened by the Koreans. It was more than two miles long. The Japanese police suddenly opened fire on the people." On July 2, conflicts finally broke out. At about 7:30 in the morning, four to five hundred China farmers each held a shovel pick and headed towards the ditch. At around 8 o'clock, the Japanese police pounced on China farmers to suppress them."At that time, 11 Japanese people opened fire as soon as they saw civilians in the trench. When the civilians saw the Japanese, they opened fire for fear of being harmed, and fired into the air for about half a time." At around 11:00, the garrison chief, Lingtian Dai, sent more than 30 Japanese police officers in two trucks to reinforce Wanbao Mountain and arrived at Majia Checkpoint at around 3 p.m. At 3 p.m., Tian Dai sent another 50 garrison cavalry from Changchun to Wanbao Mountain. From afternoon to evening, these Japanese police rushed into the rice field area and "went to villages to arrest people and seized Huannong self-defense bullets." Well,"arrested 15 or 6 villagers and tortured them to fill kerosene and pepper water." China farmers suffered cruel torture by the Japanese police. Subsequently, Japan sent a large number of police officers carrying guns to deploy defenses around Wanbao Mountain, covering mines, digging trenches, and prohibiting China from traveling within 5 miles. Under the protection of force from the Japanese police, Li Shengxun and others completed the water diversion project and opened the water on July 11. Due to the interception of the mid-stream dam in the Yitong River, more than 2000 Shangliang fields were flooded when the water rose. After the dam was released, Japanese police still did not give up their crackdown on China farmers. On July 15, the Japanese police reported that nearby households "went to the Majia sentry post to watch the machine gun exercise. After the exercise, they asked the people,'Was there any of the previous ditch in the ditch?' He also asked,'Why don't you sell vegetables when Japanese people buy?' You know what? This is a machine gun that can fire several times a second. If you are not afraid and make any extra moves, we will use this gun to kill you all.'" On the spot, he threw an empty bottle into the water and smashed it to pieces with a machine gun. Then he threatened China farmers: If you dare to fill the ditch again, you will be smashed to pieces like a bottle. Water diversion canal dug by the North Koreans
