On December 16, 1598, the Battle of Luliang broke out. On the same day, the Japanese army Shimazu Yoshihiro dispatched more than 500 warships (20,000 people in total) to rescue the besieged Konishi Governor's headquarters in the Shuntian area. The Japanese army's troops took advantage of the fighting between the two armies and fled by boat. After the Battle of Luliang, all remaining Japanese troops on the Korean Peninsula were eliminated, and Japan's war of invasion of Korea declared a complete failure.
