Thirty years ago today, on July 8, 1995 (June 11, 1995 in the lunar calendar), more than 50,000 old Red Army Lao Ba Road were awarded the Red Star and Independent Meritorious Medal. On July 8, 1995, the People's Daily reported that on the occasion of commemorating the 50th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Central Military Commission issued an order to award 10 veteran Red Army and Lao Eighth Route Army members of the Beijing Military Region and the Jinan Military Region the Red Star Meritorious Medal or the Independent Meritorious Medal. So far, 57394 people from the Old Red Army and Lao Eighth Route who participated in the Anti-Japanese War have received this kind of honorary medal for merit. After the liberation of the whole country, the Party and the people twice commended the historical achievements of the veteran soldiers who made great contributions to the victory of China revolution in the form of medals, expressing the admiration and love of the whole army and the people of all ethnic groups for them. In the 1950s, in accordance with the honours regulations passed by the National People's Congress, honours was carried out throughout the army, and the August 1st Medal, the Medal of Independence and Freedom, and the Medal of Liberation were awarded to officers and soldiers who participated in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Later, he successively awarded honorary medals of merit to veteran comrades, including 2874 people from the Old Red Army and Lao Eighth Route Road who participated in the Anti-Japanese War.
