129 years ago today, on December 30, 1896 (November 26, 1896 in the lunar calendar), the Philippine national hero Rizal passed away. Rizal (Lishalu) June 19, 1861-December 30, 1896 Dr. Rizal (June 19, 1861-December 30, 1896), whose Chinese name is generally Lishalu, was a national hero in the Philippines; a descendant of Chinese. His honorary titles include: "Pride of Malay","Great Malay","First Filipino","Father of the Philippines","Revolutionary Messiah","Hero of the Eternal" and "Redemption Messiah". Rizal (Lisha Road) is an ophthalmologist; he is fluent in 22 languages, including Cantonese, and is versatile in all fields of literature, science and culture. He began to work on reform under Spanish rule when he was young. He lived in Europe from 1882 to 1892, published novels exposing the evil of Spanish rule, became a leader of the propaganda movement, and published articles, magazines and poems on reform. From December 1891 to June 1892, Dr. Rizal (Lisar Road) and his family lived at No. 2, Lennox Floor, 5 D'Aguilar Street, Central, Hong Kong Island. They worked as an ophthalmologist here every day from 2 pm to 6 pm. After returning to the Philippines, he established a non-violent reform society and was later exiled to Mindanao, where he lived for four years. In 1896, after the Katipunan nationalist secret society launched a rebellion, the Spaniards arrested and executed Rizal, even though he had no connection with the society and had never participated in the rebellion. His heroic sacrifice made Filipinos realize that they had no choice but to secede from Spain. December 30, the death date of the doctor in Rizal (Lishalu), is now the national holiday in the Philippines,"Rizal Day". Comment: Rizal is known as the father of the Philippines.
