On this day, 85 years ago, on July 22, 1940 (June 18, 1940, the Eighth Route Army attacked Zhengtai Road in the Hundred Regiments Battle. During the Hundred Regiments War, the Eighth Route Army attacked Zhengtai Road. On July 22, 1940, the Eighth Route Army Headquarters issued the "Campaign Preparation Order" centered on the assault on Zhengtai Road, which kicked off the Hundred Regiments War. In order to crush the Japanese army's "cage policy", oppose the Kuomintang's surrender, and inspire the soldiers and civilians in the war of resistance, the Eighth Route Army Headquarters decided to organize a large-scale assault battle, that is, to effectively attack the enemy by destroying and attacking the enemy's transportation lines, communication facilities, engineering equipment and strongholds. After the battle was launched, the number of participating troops of the Eighth Route Army and local troops quickly increased to 105 regiments.
