Zheng Yonghui's original name was Zheng Yongtai. He was a famous French literary translator. His ancestral home was Xiangshan, Guangdong (now Zhongshan). He was born in Coastal Defense in Vietnam in 1918. He graduated from the Law Department of Shanghai Aurora University in 1942 and joined the China Writers Association in 1980. He began to publish works in 1983. Invited to France in 1987 and awarded the French Ministry of Culture translation prize; He has won the Lu Xun Literature Award, the National Rainbow Award for Outstanding Literary Translation and other honors. In 2000, he was awarded the Senior Translator Honorary Certificate by China Translators Association. Zheng Yonghui began to translate French literary works as early as the early days of the founding of New China. His first book was a collection of Balzac's three medium and short stories: "Sioux City Ball","Cat Ball Shop" and "Money Bag". Since then, he has translated a number of French literary works from Brazil, Russia, Czech Republic and other countries. Throughout his life, he translated the works of Hugo, Balzac, Flaubert, Merimae, Dumas, Zola, Gide, Georgesan, Maupassant, as well as the works of Sutter, Robgrier, Yamado Ifterio and others. He has translated more than 40 books, including "Smiling Man","Abandoned Woman","Year 93","Nana","Madame Montessoro","The Cellar of the Vatican" and "Selected Novels of Merimee", with more than 6 million words.
