The rest of you will go home. We have forgotten my mother and son." Except for Gang Yi, Wang Wenshao, and Zhao Shuqiao, who were on duty, the ministers of the royal former king and others were all dispersed and returned to their private homes. Cixi said to Wang Wenshao: "You are old, and I feel uneasy about this hard work. Erke came later. Gangyi and Zhao Shusu can ride horses, so they must go together." At 6 o'clock in the morning on the 15th, Cixi led Guangxu, the eldest brother Pukou and others to flee. At dawn, Zailan sped into the palace and said that the Yi soldiers had attacked Donghua Gate. The Empress Dowager knew that the matter had reached the last moment and was about to dive into the water to commit suicide. Zailan grabbed her clothes and said,"It's better to avoid it and take it as a later plan." The Empress Dowager then walked out in tears, her hair too short of the hairpin, and Guangxu mutual-aid clothes and newspapers followed her. Long Yu, Consort Jin and eldest brother boarded the car together. The princes and ministers either rode or walked, staggering, forming a retinue of more than a thousand people. They left Di 'anmen from Jingshan West Street and headed westward, and left Xizhimen at 8 a.m. It suddenly drizzled, and the followers did not carry rain gear, so they were all soaked through the rain. The appearance was desolate and miserable. At dusk, we arrive in Changping. "It has been a day since the Empress Dowager and the Empress Dowager have eaten.
