On this day, 27 years ago, on December 17, 1998 (October 29, 1998, the first Youth Internet Competition in China concluded. On December 17, 1998, the first China Youth International Internet Knowledge Competition came to an end in Beijing. The Beijing team outperformed the others in the final and won the gold medal of the competition-the "China Telecom Cup" with a total score of 230 points. A total of 27 teams participated in this competition, which started on September 26. After intense competition in the preliminary competition, online preliminary competition and online representative team competition, Anhui, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangxi and other teams won the right to finals. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region team participated in the finals as a specially invited team. The final was grandly held in the CCTV studio on the afternoon of December 17. After three stages: sequential mandatory answers, simultaneous mandatory answers and risk response, the top six were ranked. The Beijing team won the gold medal, Anhui and Hong Kong won the silver medal, and Jiangxi, Shanghai and Jiangsu won the bronze medal. Jiangsu Province, Gansu Province and Jilin Province won the Best Organization Award. This competition is guided by the State Information Office and co-sponsored by the China Youth Development Foundation, the General Administration of Posts and Telecommunications of China and CCTV. Thanks to the active participation and enthusiastic support of more than 100 units including well-known domestic IT companies, scientific research institutions and major media (Computer World participated in this event as a co-organizer.) Coupled with the joint efforts of the telecommunications departments and the Youth Foundation system of 28 provinces, cities, districts across the country, this competition has had a huge impact on society. In addition to professional team members, a total of 400,000 people directly participated in the competition, including more than 200,000 people who answered written answers and more than 100,000 people who participated online.
