33 years ago today, August 23, 1992 (July 25, 1992 lunar calendar), the first China Changchun Film Festival was held. After nearly a year of full preparation, the first China Film Festival grandly opened in Changchun on the evening of August 23, 1992. Li Tieying, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and State Councilor, made a special trip to attend and announced the opening of the film festival. Chen Muhua, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Hong Xuezhi, vice chairmen of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and Yang Chengwu and other relevant leading comrades attended the opening ceremony. The '92 China Film Festival is approved by the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television and the People's Government of Jilin Province, and is hosted by the Changchun City People's Government, the Film Administration Bureau of the Ministry of Radio, Film and Television, China Film Distribution Company, China Film Export and Import Company, Jilin Province Cultural Citizen Jilin Province Film Distribution Company and Changchun Film Studio. Organized by the People's Government of Changchun City. During the film festival, 24 excellent feature films produced by 16 domestic film studios in the past year, 8 children's films and art films, 4 films from Hong Kong and Taiwan and 20 films provided by 14 countries will be screened. These films have a wide range of themes, diverse styles, high artistic level, and strong ornamental nature, and are very popular among the audience. In order to meet the needs of the general audience, the screening has started on August 1 in more than 100 cinemas and clubs across the city, with an audience of more than 500,000. This is the first time in the country to hold such a large-scale film festival with such a wide range of exhibitors. During the screening period, one special award for domestic excellent feature films, one for "Changchun Gold Cup" and three for "Changchun Silver Cup" will be selected. The purpose of this film festival is: "Unity, friendship, exchange and development." During the film festival, commodity and material fairs, foreign economic and trade fairs, etc. are also held.
