On August 29, 2014 (August 5, 2014 in the lunar calendar), Bai Enpei, Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, was investigated. Bai Enpei, male, born in September 1946, from Qingjian, Shaanxi Province, with a university degree, an engineer, joined the Communist Party of China in June 1973 and started working in August 1970. He served as vice chairman of the Environment and Resources Protection Committee of the National People's Congress and secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee. On August 29, 2014, he was investigated by the organization on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law. On September 3, 2014, he was dismissed on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law. On January 13, 2015, after review by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and reporting to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for approval, it was decided to expel Bai Enpei from the party and remove him from public office; and transfer his suspected criminal issues and clues to judicial organs for handling in accordance with the law. On January 13, 2015, after review, the Supreme People's Procuratorate decided to file an investigation against Bai Enpei on suspicion of accepting bribes in accordance with the law and take compulsory measures.
